Levaquin, a popular antibiotic, recently received a black box warning by the FDA due to the serious side effects it causes. A black box warning is the strongest warning the FDA can issue without completely taking a drug off the market.
Levaquin was “black boxed” due to the serious side effects it has been known to cause. These side effects include tendinitis, tendon rupture, and a number of other tendon related injuries. Levaquin has also been linked to other serious life altering side effects.
Those who have suffered Levaquin injuries often must undergo additional surgery, rehabilitation, and may not ever regain complete use of their joints/tendons again. Due to the severity of these injuries, there is currently several law suits pending against the makers of Levaquin.

In the last 17 months I have taken Levaquin 4 times. In the last year I have experienced weakness in my legs, numbness on the top part of my forearm, also shoulder and neck pain. I am overweight and to be honest, I have blamed all of my symptoms to this fact. But when my husband rubs my shoulders and upper back/neck area, at times we we both can feel my tendons in those areas either they are hard as a rock or we can feel a snapping feeling. The other day I turned around and I felt a “snap” feeling going from my shoulders all the way down my legs. It happened 3 days ago, and I still feel the pain.
The pain I feel is pretty constant. I have taken OTC pain meds, and prescription pain meds, nothing helps. The one thing in the last year that has gotten worse is the pain and fatigue I feel in my legs. Walking up 7 stairs to my house causes my legs to feel weak. Please notify me if you think this has something to do with the Levaquin. Thank you.
After being prescribed Levaquin for a respiratory infection I’ve lost my taste buds and have pain in the tendons of my left arm.
My daughter was put on this drug on 6/2/09 for a cist…she within a day or 2 of taking the pill had break through bleeding.Almost like her period. However we know it wasn’t her period, she gets it like clock work and is also on the pill…
We took her to another Dr. and they told us about the warning on this drug.
Can we get our Co-Pay back? Would we get it back for the place where we bought it?
I don’t know if I could be part of this “lawsuit” or not. Two years ago while visiting Jordan, I took Levaquin, a full course due to insect bites received there; the bites were becoming infected and i began running a fever and was very lethargic. When I travel over seas I always carry an antibiotic for emergency uses this trip it happened to be levaquin. After returning to the states, I began having pain in both feet and was diagnosed as “plantars fasciitis” and subsequently I sought aid from a podiatrist; all forms of treatment did not releave the pain. After numerous special doctors, I still have the pain and now I am told it is neuropathy in both feet.
Prior to going to Jordan in 2007, I sprained my ankle and was wearing an orthopedic shoe for two weeks while in Jordan. Whether this aggravated my feet problem, I do not know.
Did the levaquin cause the plantars fascii problem?
