I was put in the hospital in December 12, 2008 for three days. They gave me intervenus doses of Levaquin for those three days for an infection. Late February to 1st of March I was painting my walls at the house and had a very severe pain to my right elbow. I stopped painting that next day and thought rest would help. It did not. So sometime in June the pain was so severe I went to my family physician and they said I had "tennis elbow" and because I am allergic to asprin they gave me a shot of some steriod or cortizone in my butt and told me I would probable need a shot in the elbow later on if it does not clear up. This is August, I still have major pain and I really am not wanting a shot in my elbow. Could this be caused from the levaquin. I have never had tennis elbow, I am very active in remodeling, painting, you name it I did it, but this has never happened to me before. I was just curious about this levaquin and my painful elbow. Please let me know what is the cause or if this is just a coinsedence and not the levaquin.

I don't know if I could be part of this "lawsuit" or not. Two years ago while visiting Jordan, I took Levaquin, a full course due to insect bites received there; the bites were becoming infected and i began running a fever and was very lethargic. When I travel over seas I always carry an antibiotic for emergency uses this trip it happened to be levaquin. After returning to the states, I began having pain in both feet and was diagnosed as "plantars fasciitis" and subsequently I sought aid from a podiatrist; all forms of treatment did not releave the pain. After numerous special doctors, I still have the pain and now I am told it is neuropathy in both feet.
Prior to going to Jordan in 2007, I sprained my ankle and was wearing an orthopedic shoe for two weeks while in Jordan. Whether this aggravated my feet problem, I do not know.
Did the levaquin cause the plantars fascii problem?

I have used the Duragesic pain management for at least 5 yrs. I am 80 yrs old and have 5 joint replacements- Severe arthritis in the lower back and scoliosis has necessitated pain relief. I started out with 25mcg and was changed to 50mcg. I preferred the Sandoz brand because of the ease of applying. Two years ago , doctors and my insurance carrier agree to a modification of every 48 hrs rather than 72 hrs. I found that evidence of withdrawal( incontrollable shakes of arms and legs) would occur after 48hrs., so 48hrs. was modified in the prescription. Could this be caused by this invisible crack that was found in the Sandoz patch?

My daughter was put on this drug on 6/2/09 for a cist...she within a day or 2 of taking the pill had break through bleeding.Almost like her period. However we know it wasn't her period, she gets it like clock work and is also on the pill...
We took her to another Dr. and they told us about the warning on this drug.
Can we get our Co-Pay back? Would we get it back for the place where we bought it?

An after thought... if anyone reads the package insert it informs the user of avoiding heat including running a temperature and how to properly dispose of the patch.

Healthcare workers... according to OSHA should be wearing gloves when they handle the patch.

It IS apparent when there is leakage of the gel insert as you get goo on your skin and the patch will no longer adhere to your body.

Also, anyone on the patch that is not seeing a healthcare provider (it takes awhile to get the proper dose) needs to assume a level of culpability in the matter.

The package insert is very clear on these counts and many others.

To date, I have been a chronic pain patient for 13 yrs due to a botched back surgery, hospital contracted MRSA that resulted in 8 subsequent back surgeries. I now have chronic osteomyelitis, arachnoiditis, spinal stenosis and a host of other back problems from the multi surgeries and infection.

9 years ago the Duragesic Patch saved my life and sanity. It actually gave me back my quality of life.

Prior to being put on the patch I was on oxycontin and was a drooling vegetable on the couch. I barely ate, I could not function, all I did was sleep and drool. Then I found out that I was going to be a Granny and I did not want my grandchild to have a granny in the state I was in.

On my next appt. with my pain management MD I pulled an almost full bottle of oxycontin out of my purse and told him that I would sit right there and take every pill in the bottle if he did not put me on something that would give me back my life. That is when I first tried the Duragesic Patch.

Within a week I was working in my garden and able to do some house cleaning. I stayed away all day, I was eating again and my back pain was less than on the oxycontin. Of course it took awhile to find the correct dosage but when we finally did I felt like a contributing member of society again not to mention being able to function as a wife and mother.

Duragesic like many other meds has gotten a bad rap because of doctors not prescribing it as directed, it is intended for chronic pain not acute pain, and yes I have known some people who were on it for acute pain.

It has gotten a bad rap because it has been abused by drug addicts. Nursing home workers actually take them off of patients in their care and either use them or sell them.

If you are under the supervision of a qualified MD and use the medication as directed including not allowing yourself to get too hot in the summer and take precautions if you are running a temp., this is the best medication on the market for chronic pain.

I still do and always will have limitations due to the problems with my back, I recognize those and work within them but pain is not one of them because of the patch.

If this medication is taken off of the market due to the abuses of others then the FDA will be doing a huge diservice to those of use who need the medication to function on a daily basis. They could monitor what it is being prescribed for by MDs and use other courses of action but not take it out of the hands of those of us who do not abuse it.

Look what the over prescribing of antibiotics has gotten us into, of which I am also a victim with the MRSA. But no one monitors this, antibiotics are not being taken off the market. We just continue to make products such as "anti-bacterial" hand washes, soaps, sprays, etc. That further exacerbate the problem.

I love my patch and what it has given back to me... my life.

I took Levaquin at the end of March. After 3 days of it I had to stop due to severe pain in my fingers, knees, and shoulders worse on the left than the right. This lasted for quite some time. I eventually had to get a steroid injection into my knee as i wasn't able to get relief. Yesterday (5/29/09) I developed the same pain and ended up in the emergency room. It is my understanding that this can keep coming back on you for quite some time. The pain was so bad I was not able to lift a blanket off of my hands without severe pain. My physician checked me for all kinds of arthritis and all were negative and they do not have any answer than this being from the Levaquin. Have you heard of frequent epsiodes from this medication? I need to work and am not sure I can do that if this continues. I had difficulty getting out of my chair because of the pain in my legs and knees and hands.I would like any and all information that you can provide. I have not had surgery for it and I do not have a ruptured tendon although my left shoulder does bother even when I am not having the severe pain.

Thank You
